Dana was abandoned at birth by her mother because she suffered from a birth defect called congenital hydrocephalus – a condition in which an abnormal accumulation of brain fluid fills the cranial cavity causing the head to progressively enlarge. Though her hydrocephalus was eventually treated, she had a complication which left her paralyzed from the waist down. She has resided in the same state-run orphanage for 17 years (since her infancy). She has never known the world outside the orphanage, other than the school she attends for kids with disabilities. She does well in school and enjoys spending time with her friends there.
Dana is a sweet, happy-go-lucky young lady! She is always smiling and encouraging others. She looks after the other smaller orphans at her orphanage as much as she can, given her disabilities.
Dana loves playing games on her phone, talking to the teachers, and spending time with her friends. More than anything she enjoys when she has visitors, such a volunteers from Finding Hope Ministries. Like all kids (and adults too) she just wants to feel special and loved. She dreams of having a family to adopt her one day, but is losing hope because of her older age.
Due to her medical condition, Dana does not stay with us and spends a large portion of her time in hospitals. Regardless, we are seeking a sponsor for her in order to help her find a caretaker and place to stay, as the orphanage will move her out and into sub-par conditions in approximately a year if there is no intervention.
If you would like to sponsor Dana, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 828-228-4140.
Thank you and God bless!
